My fiancé and I decided to take a 7-day trip to Cancun. Yes, 7 whole days! We normally vacate for around 4 days max so we wanted to try a full week and really get the true essence of a vacation. Also the $1k total cost for roundtrip and hotel accommodations encouraged this decision as well. We had the pleasure of staying at the Westin Resort & Spa Cancun at the very southern tip of the Cancun Hotel Zone. I really enjoyed this location because it was away from the hustle and bustle of the hotel zone and allowed us to really enjoy the amenities the hotel provided. The view of the lagoon in the mornings, hearing the splashing of the water each day brought tranquility and the everlasting sandy beach all definitely helped to achieve this goal. Not to forget the friendly staff, 2 pools, swim up bar and easy access to the beach; these were all pluses in my book. There is also a 24-hour bus shuttle that cost $1 USD per ride that runs along the Cancun Hotel Zone which makes visiting other areas very convenient and cost-friendly.
One of the things my fiance and I have in common is our love for food. We enjoy looking for new restaurants to explore and often make this a friendly competition to see who picked the better place and/or food choice once we’re there. Cancun is definitely a tourist friendly vacation spot, which we appreciated very much so on several nights. I specifically remembering wanting a simple burger, which we grabbed at Hooter’s, and caught a football game. There’s also a Chili’s there too so we grabbed the infamous chocolate molten cake one night and there’s even a Fat Tuesday køb viagra. You cannot go wrong with a mid-day daiquiri. Of course we wanted to try local restaurants as well and have authentic Mexican too. I would say we spent about 70% of our vacation dining somewhere which is a good thing in our book. Here are some of our selections:
A nice local restaurant with a good selection of food choices. With pleasant weather, we enjoyed outside dining within a relaxed atmosphere. The burritos and tacos are simple yet very, very delish.
Tacos and Tequila
We stumbled upon this place in the La Isla Mall. Definitely authentic and a must try if you’re in the area. The nachos we ordered were huge in portion and can definitely be shared (lesson learned). The margaritas are great here as well.
We chose this restaurant for a nice date night. The one thing I couldn’t get past was the alligator that swam freely right alongside the restaurant. Simply amazing yet kind of scary if you think about it. This is a place for seafood lovers who want to share an evening with an intimate setting. Perfect for a nice date.
Not to mention, the food at the Westin was pretty bomb as well. The fajitas at the Sunset Grill and Bar were amazing for a casual bite once you’re out for the day. We also had a great evening dinner at Sea & Stones as well.
There is definitely a ton to do while visiting Cancun. From a variety of restaurants to choose from to a number of malls to indulge in a little retail therapy to venturing to historical sites or even partaking in one of the many water sport activities. One night we decided to go to the nightclub Dady’O which was absolutely a great decision. We purchased an all-inclusive band which included a VIP table and unlimited drinks ALL night. Needless to say, we had a blast! Music was great along with our attentive waiter for our section. We also decided to book a double activity which included the Aquatwister and Jungle Tour. The Aquatwister definitely gave an adrenaline rush; this was a speedboat operated by one of their designated drivers. On the Jungle Tour, we were able to drive our own boat into the lagoon and then later snorkeled in the Caribbean Sea. This was a first for the snorkeling which was actually very fun and eventful.
Overall, I would definitely say Cancun is a must visit destination spot. Not sure when but we’ll definitely be back!
